Controversies: In 2012, Daniel Tosh was performing on-stage in the Laugh Factory in Los Angeles and made a rape remark against a young woman who attended his live show. The young woman in return commented that being raped was not a joke. The woman even posted her remarks on social media and this created a huge controversy against the stand up comedian. The woman also stated that she and her friend who attended the show felt humiliated with Tosh’s comment in front of the crowd. Many other stand-up comedians made comments in defence of Tosh stating that his style of comedy is only for laughs and nothing more. In an interview, Tosh stated that he had no intention of hurting people and made his comments solely to get laughs. Tosh apologised for his act on social media.

Petition against Tosh: Tosh’s remark in the show was considered as a threat to the safety of women and a petition was initiated to get his show Tosh.0 closed down permanently.

Fundraising: Daniel Tosh organized a fundraising “Go Fund Me” for stand-up comedian Andy Ritchie who suffered a brain tumour and this fundraising was to cover his expenses.
