‘Rock’ to Rock the boat with the Disney’s new movie ‘Jungle Cruise’
One of Disney’s most popular theme park rides is now set to cruise in a movie. “Jungle Cruise” will be hitting the big screen soon. A buzz is spreading in Hollywood that Dwayne Johnson, aka The Rock, is going to be starring in this adventurous movie. After recent movies like “San Andreas” and “Fast & Furious 7,” Dwayne is ready to hit the screen again in Disney’s new movie.
“Jungle Cruise” will be written by John Requa and Glenn Ficarra, who recently scripted “Focus” starring Will Smith. Disney has tried to get this project on the floor with Tom Hanks as the original star since 2004, after the huge success of “Pirates of the Caribbean.”
The Rock has been recording vocals for the upcoming animated film “Moana,” Disney’s new musical movie. “Jungle Cruise” is based on the Adventureland classic and has an interesting story. On the original Jungle Cruise ride, there is a riverboat that passes through Africa, Asia and South America. As per the story’s plot, at the Magic Kingdom, a team of rider passes through these areas of the world and sees some of the exotic flora and fauna. The story is said to be based in modern times, but The Rock’s role will still be based in past times.
The addition of The Rock will likely mean that this movie will be more of an adventure and action film rather than being a comedy. Dwayne has a busy schedule this year as he is associated with movies like “Central Intelligence,” Paramount’s “Baywatch,” “Rampage” by New Line, Warner Brothers’ “Shazam!” and the next sequel of hit franchise “Fast and Furious.”
